Orthodontics

Orthodontics can provide an excellent solution to dental issues such as crowded or crooked teeth and an incorrect jaw bite. Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth into a better position, to improve their appearance and how they work. It can also help to look after the long-term health of the teeth, gums and jaw joints, by spreading the biting pressure over all the teeth. Straightening your teeth can also make them easier to clean.

Orthodontic treatment is usually carried out in children, but adults can benefit from it too. The treatment involves wearing braces over a period of 1-2 years. Braces are usually constructed of wire which will have tiny springs attached to a metal plate or a plastic mould. The braces apply a gentle force to the teeth that overtime will encourage them to change a different position. Ideally orthodontics is done when the teeth are still growing which is why this is a popular treatment among children. However, it is still possible to get a good result as an adult.  In fact, Recent advances in technology have allowed us to provide simple orthodontic solutions for patients that can be completed in as little as 3 months.

Using super elastic wires and brackets on the inside of your teeth we can gently move your teeth into a new, more aesthetic and hygienic position very quickly. With the brackets and the wires on the inside of your teeth the process is practically invisible and most patients have little discomfort or difficulty with the process. We also offer clear aligners that can move teeth without any brackets or wires and are also practically invisible. If you would like to find out some more information please feel free to contact us or make an appointment for a complimentary initial orthodontic assessment.
